Problem statement “A Study to assess the prevalence, knowledge & practice regarding prevention of varicose vein among nurse in selected hospital at Mumbai.” Objectives:To assess the prevalence of varicose vein among nurses in selected hospital, To assess the knowledge and practices of nurses regarding prevention of varicose vein among the nurses in selected hospital, To determine the relation between knowledge and practices regarding prevention of varicose vein among nurses. In this study the sample size is 100 Nurses working in K. J. Somaiya hospital in Mumbai. Non probability convenience sampling technique is used. Tools and Technique: Questionnaire was used to collect the data from nurses to assess the knowledge regarding varicose vein and practise implemented to prevent varicose vein. Plethysmograph was used to detect the prevalence of varicose vein among sample. Data Analysis: It was observed that among 100 samples 58% nurses had knowledge regarding varicose veins and its prevention. Prevalence was determined using plethysmograph and it was observed that out of 100 samples 23% of the samples had mild varicose veins, 53% had moderate and 1% had severe varicose veins. Pamphlets regarding measures to prevent varicose veins were provided to the samples along with the readings of plethysmograph.
