Research Ethical Committee

The committee is formed to protect the potential participant in research and to promote high ethical standards in research for health.

Aim

To expand knowledge by supporting the values required for collaboration and to ensure implementation of research ethics.

Objective

  • To ensure the rights of research participants are protected.
  • To approve research studies by safeguarding the involved ethics.
  • To promote research culture among faculty and students.
  • To suggest changes in the study to enhance the quality of research.
  • To facilitate interdisciplinary , multidisciplinary and evidence-based research in the institute.

Ms. Nancy Fernandes

Dr. (Mrs). Nancy Fernandes Pereira, has completed Ph.D. Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing (Paediatrics Nursing) ,a P. G. Diploma in Education Management and a Basic certificate course in Health care ethics. She is currently working as a Principal L.T.C.N.at S.N.D.T Women’s University, Mumbai...

She is an active member in various Boards of renowned nursing Colleges. She is a member of the Board of Studies at the College of Nursing, Dr. D. Y. Patil Deemed University, Navi Mumbai. She is also a member of the Research & Recognition committee at Dr. D. Y. Patil Deemed University, Pune. Additionally, she is a member of the University Board of NSS. She is an approved Co-Guide/Co-Supervisor for Ph.D. Programme in Nursing at various Universities. Furthermore, She serves as the Chairperson of Research Ethics Committee at K.J. Somaiya College of Nursing.

Dr. Jayashree Salvi

Vice-Principal, K J Somaiya College Of Nursing

Jayashree Salvi is currently serving as the Vice Principal of K.J, Somaiya School and College of Nursing.

With over 19 years of teaching experience and approximately 2 years of clinical experience, She brings a wealth of knowledge to her role. She graduated from Leelabai Thackersey College of Nursing and completed her M.Sc in Community Health Nursing from Bombay Hospital College of Nursing.

Dr. Salvi has also served as a chairperson and organizing Secretary for various workshops, conferences and seminars. Additionally, she has published research papers in National and International journals showcasing her contributions to the field of nursing

Dr. Achala Danait

Dean, Research, SIRAC, Vidyavihar

Dr. Achala Danait has been a C-Suite leader with 31 years of enriching experience in global organizations.

She has done her Ph.D. in Polymer Science from IIT Bombay, followed by Business and Organisational Leadership Development Programs from Texas A&M University, USA and London Business School, UK. She has filed several US patents and co-authored numerous research publications. She is presently the Chairperson of the R&D Subcommittee of the Indian Chemical Council (ICC) and also a mentor at Aspire For Her, an organization committed to changing the diversity equation in India. She is a member of the Board of Studies in Polymer Science at Somaiya Vidyavihar University.

Prior to joining us, Dr. Danait was the Managing Director of Clariant India Limited, a Swiss specialty chemical company, and Director on the Board of Sud Chemie India Private Limited. She was also responsible for the Technology and Innovation activities of Business Unit Care Chemicals for Asia Pacific region.

Dr. Danait has previously worked with Halliburton Technology Center, Pune and Sudarshan Chemical Industries, Pune in varied roles. Before joining the industry, Dr. Danait worked in Academia for ~10 years as a Faculty member in institutes affiliated with the University of Pune and has led government-sponsored research projects.

Dr. Achala Danait will report to the Vice Chancellor, Somaiya Vidyavihar University.

Dr. Samir Vinayak Joshi

Dean, K. J. Somaiya Medical College, Special Invitee

His academic career spans over a period of 30 years with a postgraduate teaching experience of 20 years and administrative experience as Professor – Vice Dean – Dean over a period of 14 years in the service of Government of Maharashtra. This includes a 13 year period in one of the oldest medical institutes in India, i.e. BJ Government Medical College, Pune.

Dr. Rupali Sabale

Statistician, K J Somaiya Health and Research Center

Dr. Rupali Sabale holds an MD in Preventive and social Medicine (PSM), a PGDHA degree and a FAIMER fellowship.She serve as the Course coordinator for the fellowship in “Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases"initiated by Department of Community Medicine, GSMC, Mumbai.She has completed the MCI recognized “Advance Course in Medical Education" and has13 years of teaching experience as an Assistant Professor.

Dr. Rupali Sable is an approved UG and PG teacher by MUHS. She is also the approved faculty and nodal person responsible for organizing the Basic Research Methodology Workshop at GSMC. She has published 13 papers as Original articles in indexed journals and awarded the “Smt Sakarben Somaiya Award for Outstanding Academic Innovation” in Sept 2015.
Dr. Sabale is an MNC accrediated speaker. She has presented papers at National and State Conferences and has conducted workshop as resource person on “E-learning” at a National Conference on Pediatric Education.Dr. Sabale has contributed to the revision of books published by “All India Institute of Local Self Government” for Sanitary Inspector course.She has co-coordinator and resource person in NIHFW funded project on “Training of District Health Officers in Disaster Management and as the Coordinator and resource person in a TB training program funded by the Public Health Deparment. She is a reviewer for the International Journal of Education and Research in Health Sciences, Health and Population: Perspectives and Issues (the official journal of NIHFW) and the Indian Journal of Occupation and Environmental Medicine.

Adv. Kunal Chaudhari

Advocate

Ad. Kunal Ramkrishna Chaudhari completed his Master of Law (LL.M.), Diploma in Management studies(D.M.S.) and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Economics from Bombay University. He is practicing Advocate in Bombay High Court.

He specialize in arbitration matter and is well-versed in areas such as Income Tax, Customs & Central Excise, Labour,Provident Fund, Testamentary matters. He has handled numerous cases related to these areas in the High Court,Bombay. Additionally, he has previous experience working as a Lecturer in “Business in R.A. Poddar College of Commerce Matunga, Mumbai.

Ms. Manju Sunil Pednekar

Statistician, K J Somaiya Health and Research Center

Mrs. Manju Sunil Pedanekar completed her B.Sc Home Science from SNDT College, Pune. She also hold an MSW (Passed in First Class) from Karve Institute of Social Science,Pune and a Peace fellowship Diploma at Chulalongkon University, Bangkok.

She has worked as Family Counsellor at Family counseling centre "Stree Mukti Sangathan" in Vashi. Additionally, she has served as Coordinator for Jidnyasa Project which focuses on teenage school going children in New Bombay. Ms. Pednekar has also worked as Social Worker in project of NIRRHICMR named " intervention in Urban Slums to enhance participation of men in reproductive health",and has been promoted to the possition of Senior Investigator for the same project. Currently she holds the role of Project Manager at SAHAS, which is part of the K J Somaiya Medical Trust.

Ms. Swati Bhalerao

Ms. Swati Bhalerao holds the position of Associate Professor at K.J Somaiya College of Nursing.

With over 11 years of teaching experience she is a highly experienced professional. She completed her graduation from Dr. D.Y Patil College of Nursing and obtained her M.Sc in Mental Health Nursing from Tehmi Grant Institute Of Nursing Education,Tadiwala Road,Pune. She has also contributed to a book titled "Principles & Procedures of Nursing Foundation Vol II".

Additinally, Ms. Swati Bhalerao has actively served as a chairperson and organising Secretary for various workshops, conferences and seminars. Her research work has been published in National and International journals.

Dr. Shobha Gaikwad is working as Assist. Professor at L T College of Nursing.She has Completed her Ph.D in nursing. She has more than 22 years of teaching experience and 9 years of clinical experience.She Has around 33 paper publications in peer reviewed and impact factor UGC recognised journals at national and International conferences

Dr. Sushma Pandey

Dr. Sushma Pandey is currently serving as a Professor at K J Somaiya College of Nursing. She hold a Ph.D from Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences, Wardha. Additonally, she completed her Diploma in Office Automation from NIIT, Bhilai, , Diploma in Hospital Administration (DHA) from Institute of Health Care Administration, Chennai,2005.

Dr Sushma is not only a professor but also a trained Sujok therapist and yoga trainer. In recognition of her excellence in teaching, She was awared the Best Teacher Award by the National Teachers Association in 2021. She has also received prizes for research paper presentation. Furthermore, she has actively served as a chairperson and organizing Secretary for various workshops, conferences and seminars. Her research contributions can be seen in her publications in National and International journals.

Dr. Shweta Kshirsagar

Associate Professor, K J Somaiya College Of Nursing

Dr. Shweta Kshisagar initially joined as clinical instructor in 2012 and was subseqently promoted to the position of Associate Professor in 2021. With over 9 years of teaching experience and 2 years of clinical experience as nursing officer-team leader, she brings valuable expertise to her role

She graduated from Terna College of Nursing and completed her M.Sc in Midwifery & Gynaecology Nursing from Hinduja College of Nursing.

Dr. Shweta Naik has actively served as chairperson and organizing secretary for various workshops, conferences and seminars. Her research papers have been published in both National and International journals, further showing her dedication toadvancing knoledge in the field.
