The advisory committee is a controlling authority that consists of eminent people from management , service , education and institute representatives. It functions to promote efficient, effective way of coordinating various activities associated with the institute.
To ensure continues advancement and growth in the institute by formulating various policies, activities , exchange of ideas.
The meeting of members of the Local Managing committee is convened twice a year and aims at monitoring the progress of the institute by periodically reviewing the activities of the institution. Issues regarding admissions, finance, budget, academics, grievances, and student and teachers related matter are addressed.

Samir Somaiya is Chairman and Managing Director of Godavari Biorefineries Ltd., Chairman of The Somaiya Trust, the K J Somaiya Medical Trust, Girivanvasi Educational Trust, Girivanvasi Pragati Mandal, President of Somaiya Vidyavihar & Owner of Kitab Khana. He was the Chairman of the Education Committee of the Indian Merchants Chamber and is a member of the Green Chemistry Initiative of the Scientific Advisors to the Government of India, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Indian Chemical Council, the Cornell University Council, and the Advisory Board of the School of Chemical Engineering of Cornell University.
He is a Visiting Instructor at the School of Chemical Engineering at Cornell. Samir Somaiya has Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from Cornell as well. He also has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Harvard University.

Dr. Avani Oke is working as the Principal of K.J, Somaiya School and College of Nursing since 2014.
Dr Avani Oke has more than 20 years of teaching and about 3 years of clinical experience before climbing the ladder as a Principal.
She started her career as a Tutor In Leelabai Thackersey College of Nursing, SNDT Women's University, Mumbai in 1993 and then worked in reputed hospitals like Cumballa and Hinduja Hospital to gain clinical expertise. She has worked in various capacities like Assistant lecturer, Lecturer and Associate Professor in Leelabai Thackersey College of Nursing. She has also worked as Course Coordinator of Critical Care in Lilavati Hospital. Dr Avani Oke has also worked as an Education Coordinator in Kinderd Hospital, New Jersey, USA.
Dr Avani Oke has completed her Masters in Nursing (Child Health Nursing) and PH.D from Leelabai Thackersey College of Nursing, SNDT Women's University with First class. She also did Post Graduate Diploma in Education Management from SNDT University, Mumbai with A Grade.
She has won Best Teacher Award in 2018 and was honored at the 27th TNAI Biennial Conference held at Loni. She also won laurels for the institute and won the Best MQH practice award in February 2018 at the National conference organized by Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality award trust. The institute was also featured in Top 20 Most promising nursing colleges in Silicon India magazine under her leadership.
Dr Avani Oke has presented papers at State, National and International Conferences. She has also published papers in various newsletters and journals. She is on the TNAI editorial board and is an editor for the journal “International Journal of Nursing and Occupational Health”.
Dr Avani has been a coordinator, chairperson for organizing conferences, workshops and seminars.

Lieutenant General H S Kahlon, who retired from serving our country after 4 decades of service. Lt. Gen. H S Kahlon is an astute and result-oriented professional with almost four decades of rich experience in various domains including Capital Procurement, Project/Works Management, Budgeting and Financial Planning, Human Resource Management, Security operations, Maintenance Operations, General Administration and Facilities Management.
He has a notable career, having served in various high-profile roles within the Indian Army and United Nations missions. In his last assignment the General officer was the Area Commander, Headquarters based at Colaba, Mumbai, handling Administration of all Military Stations in the States of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa. He was awarded the Presidential awards of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal(AVSM) and Sena Medal(SM) for his meritorious services and contributions to the organisation.
While in service, he had administrative command of the Indian Army in peninsular India, with over 30 establishments and 75,000 personnel under his control. He oversaw the working of 9 military hospitals, and premier education institutions and schools of the Army.
His academic credentials include M.Phil in Defence and Strategic Studies from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore; M.Sc in Defence Studies from Madras University; B.Tech in Civil Engineering from Bombay University. He is also an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and the prestigious national Defence College, New Delhi. Lieutenant General H S Kahlon will oversee the academic and administrative affairs of all the Schools under K.J. Somaiya Trust, Somaiya Vidyavihar Trust. Also He will be involved in Administration for Somaiya (Medical) Trust, K.J. Somaiya (Delhi) Trust, K.J. Somaiya (Gujarat) Trust, Girivanvasi Pragati Mandal, Girivanvasi Education Trust, Maganlal Mehta,K.J. Somaiya hospital and Superspeciality hospital and others. Dr. Raghunath K. Shevgaonkar
Dr. Raghunath K. Shevgaonkar, is a scientist and academician who provided dynamic leadership in Engineering Education in India for more than four decades.
An alumnus of, MITS Gwalior, IIT Kanpur, Indian Istitute of Astrophysics/Raman Research Institute Bangalore, and IIT Bombay, his research spans over a wide range of areas like, Radio Astronomy, Fibre Optic Communication, Electromagnetics, and Antennas.

Mr. Sovan Basu has completed Masters in Human resource Management from IISWBM and B.Com (Hons) from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. He has close to two decades of valuable experience in various disciplines of HR, as a strategic HR Business partner & leader, by virtue of his association with Global & Indian conglomerates like Unilever, Reliance Power, Wipro, BASF & Novartis in Mumbai.
Prior to joining us, Mr. Basu was associated with a Kolkata based Group of Educational Institutions – RICE India & Adamas University as Group Head – HR & Director - HR. He was heading the HR portfolio of six mutually exclusive legal entities in various domains of education like University, Schools, IT & Ed tech, professional coaching for Administrative Services, offering a holistic solution in the space of education, spanning across different locations in India. He was also a Member of the Governing Board of Admas University.

Dr. Mrs Phalakshi Manjrekar is currently the Nursing Director at P.D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC Mumbai , and her present role encompasses Nursing Service Management, Continuing education and Research.
Here she also is an important representative on numerous committees of the hospital and plays a key role in taking nursing decisions forward.. Her contribution to the Nursing department includes implementation of numerous innovative and best practices in Nursing. She also took additional responsibility to head the nursing division of Hinduja Healthcare Surgical to establish the hospital’s nursing department and implement policies.
In her role as an Executive Director- Nightingale Initiative for Global Health, International Organization with its Head Office in Manitoba, Canada Dr. Mrs Phalakshi Manjrekar is responsible to initiate multiple goals for Nurses globally. She has prominently surveyed the role of Indian Nurses in calamities and in Nursing victims of terminal ill disorders.
She also contributed as a panelist to speak on “ Resources to Empower Nurses “ at the International Women’s World conference at the University of Ottawa, Canada. Her collaboration with University of Cincinnati (USA) and the Sardar Patel University in Gujarat, India for multi factorial research is well known. She has also conferred with global and regional nursing leaders in Canada, Great Britain, across the Commonwealth Countries, and Switzerland —she has also attended World Health Organization briefings in Geneva and at WHO SEARO – New Delhi.
Her contribution as a keynote speaker on nursing in the Commonwealth Nursing and Midwifery Federation, London in 2014 and also in 2016 on Indian Nursing is well appreciated.
